…is pretty much how I feel at the moment. The last few weeks have just flown by, mainly because one of my colleagues was off work for a month, so I’ve been doing every other week on call. Quite tired!
On the bright side, I had the day off work yesterday, mainly to look after Joshua as Deanne was busy. In the afternoon I took him out for an ice cream and a babyccino, I had a Diet Coke. Afterwards we took a ball to the nearby park and had a kick/throw/run about, as per the picture.
Not much planned for the weekend, although I’m swapping weekends with one of the other guys so will be on call (again), although that’s a pretty good thing as it leaves me free for Joshua’s “friend” party next weekend.
Deanne and I have both had man-flu this week too, I even had to come home early from work on Tuesday because I felt so grotty. I thought I was better but was not so great again this morning. Nearly over it now though, touch wood.
Will probably Skype at the weekend.
A few more pictures to keep you going, while I’m busy working on marketing my book.
The first one is from Happy Zoo Year and is a painted dog. Because it was a bit later than normal when we got to look round it meant the animals were more active, so the dogs were up and about and investigating things.
The other two pictures are from when we went to Riverton with Julie and Rick, to watch the new year’s day fireworks. We got there fairly early and Josh wanted a swim, so he put on his bathers and went and splashed about in the river for a good half hour. We took a picnic tea with us and ate that, after which bands started playing, which explains the ear defenders! We had a really nice time and the cover bands were actually pretty good, you’d have enjoyed them.
I’m off work on Wednesday to look after Joshua, no Nana this week. Then he’s spending Thursday AND Friday at day-care, so he’s likely to be shattered on Friday night/Saturday.
Hope you and ToF are having fun with Rich/Ana/Jasmine.

Joshua, Sitting in the Water
As you can imagine it’s been a pretty busy few weeks, even the weekend was crazy.
On Friday Deanne went out with the Mum’s from Kindy for an Xmas meal, so Joshua and I went to get some fish and chips, which we ate at the playground at Riverton. During Daycare he had actually taken part in some facepainting (for the first time ever) so I thought I better capture it for posterity, which is the first picture.
Joshua seemed more interested in playing on the playground than eating his chips and potato scallops, but eventually he did take some time out from his busy schedule to have dinner. The second picture is of him looking through the spyglass at the park, this was after we had eaten and we played together for a bit, ho didn’t get to bed until about 9 o’clock.
On Saturday I did what remained of my pre-Christmas, Christmas shopping. I’ll send the UK contingent’s stuff out in the new year. Then I met with Deanne and Josh at the shopping centre at Success, I turned up just in time to stop at Miss Maude’s for a drink and a cake, which was nice. Then we did our food shopping and came home. It was super busy at the shops, but I still have a bit of a disconnect going in my head about Christmas being three days away because it’s sunny and hot!
On Sunday we had an impromptu trip to the Zoo, most of the animals were laying about relaxing, although it wasn’t such a hot day as a few lately, we’ve been up to the high thirties a couple of times. The best picture I got was probably the third one below of the Koala having a bit of a kip.
My final, slightly exciting, news is that I’ve actually got round to publishing my book on Amazon. If you or ToF want it I’ll chuck you a copy of the finished one straight to your Kindles, but if you happen to get a chance tell Rich he can even buy it in Brazil by going to the Brazilian Amazon website and searching for Dan Ladle. The cover of the book is the fourth picture, although I’ve updated it since I did that one but it hasn’t shown up on the site yet!

It was great Skyping today, sorry if I wasn’t making a lot of sense, I did a blood test after I shut the call down and was a bit on the low side. Oops!
This morning, as well as doing a couple of loads of washing and hanging out of clothes, I found a recipe and made some of the leftover risotto into arancini balls, however I only made a couple as I wanted to check them out before I went ahead and used the rest of it. Because we didn’t have mozzarella I used a small piece of cheddar and a bit of sun dried tomato. They turned out okay but the cheese didn’t melt very well, so I took note and planned to make the rest later in the day.
Deanne and I ate them for lunch, Josh had a cheese sandwich. We left Deanne at home to rest her back and I took Joshy to Riverton, next to the Canning River, to have a scoot and a Calippo ice cream. Sadly the café, which served lovely cakes, although we only had a Diet Coke (me) and an ice cream (Josh), was still in the process of being built, so the playground wasn’t finished. However Joshua coped well with this and so we went for a massive scooter ride along the river.
When we got home I made tea, home made chips plus burgers in buns, then raspberry jelly with vanilla ice cream.
I put Josh to bed then had another go at the risotto, making another eight balls, then sharing one with Deanne to check it turned out okay.
Tomorrow I’m helping out at kindy, so another tiring day I suspect.
A mildly amusing aside: Snuggles just climbed on to the bed and sat between my feet as I was typing this and Deanne said, “ah, what’s it like to be a bore?” Then quickly realised what she’d actually said and changed the last word to “adored”! At least I think it wasn’t on purpose!
