Housework

Dear Mum,
My first night on call last night, I got two calls, both from the same bloke. One was about a printer issue then, a couple of hours later, the sites whole network connection had gone down.
So far I’ve spent about three or four hours on getting it sorted, and it’s still not fixed!
Apart from that we went to the turning on of the City Xmas lights last night. There were people dressed up, singing and dancing. Joshua loved it, he had a look of stunned amazement on his face for the whole thing.
Today Deanne and I have been cleaning and tidying, with help from the boy. The house is starting to look almost presentable. Tomorrow we’re going to start on the spare room, which is still full of empty boxes, random things we haven’t unpacked and Joshy’s Xmas presents. It’s likely to take rather a long time!
Hope you like the picture of Santa in shorts!

A New Job

Dear Mum,

It’s the school holidays this week so Josh is staying at Nana’s house tonight instead of tomorrow. Yesterday was a bank holiday so Deanne and I did some washing and ironing, I built Josh’s new drawers, Bob came over for a bit and we also watched Episode V (as Joshua calls it), or The Empire Strikes Back as it’s more generally known. He really enjoyed it and so did I. It’s my favourite one!

Today I dropped him off at Julie’s, on the way to work. I spent most of today redoing the website for the company. I’m trying to get everything ready for when I leave, as I start my new job on the 13th of October. I confirmed the start day with Penny’s Dad today. Not sure how I feel about the whole thing but I’m sure it’ll work out okay.

While I was getting ready Josh did some cutting out, colouring and sticking, which is what the picture is below.

Afternoon Nap

Dear Mum,
This morning Dee and I were doing housework and paperwork, during which time Josh did some cutting and drawing, as per the photo.
Deanne made some fruity-grainy slicey things, then after lunch I packed some snacks and drinks and we went to the park, taking Josh’s bike.
Sadly Joshua got a bit grumpy so we didn’t spend a lot of time there. When we got back he put himself to bed and slept for about two and a half hours, so apparently he was tired.
I made baked potatoes and salad for tea, then Josh had jelly and ice cream for pudding.
Tomorrow is kindy for the boy, I’ll be doing some of Rich’s work, as well as a few other bits and pieces. Dee will be at work, obviously.

Dinner, By Deanne

Dear Mum,

Today was a pretty quiet day. Deanne is feeling a bit better so we both did some housework, washing, vacuuming, etc. while Joshua cut some shapes out and coloured them in. While I was hanging the washing out I asked Joshy if he could get my sunnies and he came back laughing, as per the picture. For lunch I made little Pizzas, just tomato sauce and cheese on the bases you can buy from Coles.

After lunch we went to see a house in Bull Creek, but it wasn’t quite as nice as a one Dee saw the other day in Leeming, so we’ll probably put an offer in for that one and see what happens! We had to visit Coles next because I accidentally bought top-loader washing powder instead of front-loader, like our is. They gave us our money back without questioning my stupidity so we bought some more and also some Tim Tams, because they were going cheap.

Joshua did some more Maths Seeds when we got home and then he played in the garden while I did some weeding, as we ned to get the house in decent shape for when we move out.

Deanne was feeling well enough to make tea, and a fine job she did of it. We got polenta topped with a mushroom ragù, which tasted fantastic. Josh had beans and toast as he didn’t fancy it, although he did have a try of the polenta but wasn’t too keen.

Josh would like to take his bike to the park tomorrow, apart from that nothing planned.

Housework

Dear Mum,

Today was mostly a housework-y sort of day. I washed our sheets, hoovered and did various other things that needed doing. Next Thursday we have an inspection of the house by the owners/estate agents so I’m starting to think about getting it clean and tidy for that.

I actually finished my job application. I got the educational institution wrong yesterday, it’s ECU not UWA, thankfully not the Joondalup campus this time though. I sent it off this evening after Deanne had read through it.

Joshua had a really good day at daycare today, no unwanted hugging took place and he didn’t get into trouble at all. Hopefully all our reiteration has finally got through to him. Touch wood!

We had a late tea because Deanne’s cousin Sharon came round to drop some things off that Deanne ordered. After we’d all had a bit of a chat and she had left we went to the local fish and chip shop and brought chips and potato fritters for tea. Joshua also got an ice cream for being such a good boy today.

Because it was late after we finished tea Joshy didn’t have a bath, just a toothbrush and story then bed, although we did spend a couple of minutes sorting out the pile of 50 cent pieces Olive sent over for him the other day and putting them in his various money boxes.

Not sure what we’re doing this weekend, although Sharon suggested that you can get cheap Quorn and Linda McCartney veggie stuff at Spud Shed so we’ll probably make a trip there at some point. We were also thinking about heading into Fremantle just for a bit of a day out.

Bathroom

Dear Mum,

Julie came at about half nine and took Joshua and myself to the Tropical Twist play centre. Joshua had a great time running about, climbing, sliding and bouncing. ToF may be interested to hear that Josh got a ball and was dribbling it all the way round the place, with a skill level that obviously skipped a generation. His ball control really was something else! I don’t know, maybe all four year olds’ are imbued with that kind of soccer-ing talent, but I was certainly impressed!

When the boy found out I wouldn’t be spending the whole day with them and would be dropped off on the way back to Nana’s house he was a little upset, but Nana gave him a lolly and he seemed to cheer up pretty quickly after that.

At home I did a few tasks, like washing, ironing, making the wire on a mirror longer so we can hang it and see more than just the top of our heads. My day passed pretty quickly and before I knew it Joshua was home and I was making risotto for tea.

After the boy was bathed and in bed Deanne and I tidied up some cables and other things in the computer room. I did some ironing, then we settled down in front of the TV, which I discovered yesterday we could watch (a bit like BBC iPlayer) via a cable plugged in to the laptop. It’s a little jumpy when a lot of people are on line, but otherwise we managed to catch up on an episode of Death in Paradise that we missed due to not having a TV, we’re going to watch the next episode another night.

I have included a picture of Joshua’s bathroom, including Joshua, from while he was having a bath tonight. The shower is on the left and the fixtures and fittings appear to be relatively new. It’s very nice!

All Change

Dear Mum,

An interesting day today!

Julie dropped Joshua off and picked him up as it’s “Julie Wednesday”, whether he’s at home or at Kindy…and he was at kindy this Wednesday. So I was at home doing things today. I had quite a productive day and managed to do a good deal of the things I had planned.

I started off by sorting out a flu jab for myself, thankfully something I don’t have to pay for 🙂 I also wrote to Diabetes WA to see if they could recommend any insurance companies who might give me preferential rates as a Diabetic, I got a response from one of their people, who gave me another person to contact, so I did.

Then I headed out. Deanne bought a bag a couple of months back and the outer layer of it broke after she’d only used it a couple of times, so I took it back for her. However on the way to the shops I got a phone call (our car does hands free so I was okay to take it), it was the woman who i sent my CV to yesterday, she asked if it was okay to talk and I told her I was driving but as long as I didn’t need to write anything down.

We talked for about five or ten minutes about what I did at Trent, the job is a change one so I had plenty to talk about! She seemed fairly happy with what she heard and I’ve got an interview on Monday, so fingers crossed (again). I do have a suspicion I’m better at the change stuff than I was at security…or at least I’m better at talking about it!

I gave Deanne a call then actually went in to the shops. I tell you what, the UK could learn a thing or two about customer service. The lady in the shop looked at the bag, said it was terrible, then refunded the money onto my card, even though it had been bought on Deanne’s! I filled the car up with petrol, half a tank for about $44, then came home, had lunch and did a few bits and pieces around the house, including starting on the ironing, which I’ll finish tomorrow.

Talking of which I’m going to the doctors tomorrow for the aforesaid flu vaccination, Josh is with Nana and I’m checking I remember how change works. No pictures today I’m afraid.
