Deanne was in a baking mood today, and we didn’t have anything else planned. So while Josh played in the garden and I hung out some washing, she made some chunky monkey cookies, an apple pie, an apple strudel to put in the freezer and (in the afternoon) chocolate chip cookies. We also have some leftover lemon slice from yesterday and a few other frozen bits and pieces.
Toasted sandwiches for lunch, then we went to look at a house for sale in Leeming, not that we’re planning on buying any time soon, but we want to get our heads round what’s out there.
After that we took Josh to Kings Park, but sadly we had to curtail the trip due to tiredness and grumpiness (his, not ours). After getting home he went to bed and slept for a couple of hours.
I made crushed potatoes for dinner, with some sausages and vegetables. Apple pie for pudding, Josh had ice cream we had cream, it was lovely. We still have half of it left so I suspect it’ll be on the menu tomorrow night too.
I also used the sausage mix I froze weeks ago to make some sausage rolls, which we might use for lunches, etc. A lot of cooking today!
Deanne is still not quite better from the balance problems, plus she tripped on the sofa and re-hurt her back again, so she’s hobbling around in some discomfort at the moment. I’m sure she’ll be fine but she’s had a tough couple of weeks.
I suspect I may hear back from the new boss about a starting date in the next day or two, it’ll be funny going to work again.
Snuggles finally left the building of his own accord tonight and stayed out for a good hour or two. We’re very proud.

A busy day today!
We got up relatively early, had breakfast, showered (I shaved, Paul :-p), got dressed and headed out to look at a couple of beds at the place we went the other week. Then we went to a shop called Spotlight, which sells crafting stuff and bought some pipe-cleaners and beads for Joshy to do some threading, and some scissors for him so he can cut things out, finally some wool so we can make some necklaces or whatever with the beads.
After that we went to Coles and grabbed a few essentials, fruit and cheese and things. By the time we got home it was getting towards twelve o’clock, but we decided to just have a snack (we bought some ring doughnuts and iced buns and ate them), then Josh and Deanne got on their bikes and we went to the Lake, they cycled round while I walked/ran near Joshua so as to keep him from getting into trouble. Of course I didn’t do a very good job because as we set off I ran down the drive with him and he fell at the bottom, on the road, grazing the back of both of his hands. He cried quite a lot, but after we gave him a few cuddles and kisses he was okay.
We got as far round the lake as the small playground on the other side, must be about two or three kilometres, and then Joshy played for about half an hour. On the way back he started to get a bit tired as we got near home, but managed to get all the way without too much help. I was quite impressed. I will get a bike at some point, but it’s not top on the priority list at the moment.
We had toasted cheese sarnies for lunch and Josh watched Ice Age 3 -Dawn Of The Dinosaurs (again) as we ate. Julie came round for a bit, but you know that ’cause that is around when we Skyped.
After we talked to you I made some veggie sausage rolls, as there were some ingredients left over from when I last made them, they look pretty good but we haven’t eaten any yet as we had far too much junk food today and couldn’t fit anything else in. They’ll be good for lunches next week and we might have some tomorrow too.
Deanne did a risotto for tea, which was very nice with some garlic bread, then I put Josh to bed. Tomorrow we have nothing particularly planned so we’ll get up and see what happens.
This morning Deanne went out to a craft fair in Perth so Joshua and I had some Daddy/Joshy time. We got dressed, played with his Play Dough, did some stickering, then we went to the park and Joshua cycled a circuit which took in a large portion of this side of Bibra Lake. He goes fast enough for me not to be able to keep up with him now, but when there is an incline he keeps asking for a push to get him going again. When he gets far enough away from me he stops, turns round and shouts “take a picture Daddy”. So I have about ten pictures of a tiny dot in the middle distance.
After lunch Deanne and Joshua made some bran flake cakes and then, because we’ve had such a busy week with a few late nights for Joshua we spent most of the afternoon letting him watch TV shows. However, due to the fact that the power block for our TV box has blown he had to watch them on the laptop rather than the TV. This meant I had to teach him how to navigate the ABC4Kids website, start the videos and make them fill the screen. He learnt worryingly quickly! He’ll be better than us in a year or twos time I suspect.
So tomorrow I’ll be heading to Subiaco, where the iiNet shop is, and swapping our power block for a new one. I also need to pop to the bank to pay some money in and probably do some other stuff I’ve forgotten about. It doesn’t seem like it should be Monday again already!
The picture is of the pile of Teddies Joshua left by the front door. When I asked him what they were for he said that he was going to take them to Nana’s house when it’s Joshy/Nana day this week.
No, I really haven’t lost any weight! I just didn’t have any belts so I had to get one for a few pairs of my trousers.
Deanne helped out at the WA election cake stall at Joshua’s school this morning so Joshua and I went to the park and played for an hour or two. He made me take a picture of himself on the swing.
When Deanne got home we went out and looked at a house, which was pretty nice, we’re widening our search a bit from Leeming as time’s a marching on and there haven’t really been any decent houses there since our container made it to Australia. After the viewing we went and picked up the cakes for Joshua’s birthday party tomorrow. They’re rather good little fairy cakes with creamy icing and we have edible stickers of Buddy and Tiny from Dinosaur Train which we’ll stick on before we go.
In the afternoon we went along to the local school so Deanne could vote herself, she would have done it this morning but the queue at Josh’s school was half an hour long! After that e went to another area to see another house. Joshua rode his bike to the school when Dee went to vote, he’d also ridden it to the park in the morning which is why, when we got home he spent most of the rest of the day in front of the TV watching a film and then some kids shows until tea time.
I made a satay for our dinner, as Julie and Rick were going out tonight. The last one I made wasn’t well received by the young man, so tonight instead of telling him what it was Deanne told him it was a curry, and he lapped it up. The sauce was just peanut butter, soy sauce and water, not too bad but I used a little too much soy so it was a bit salty.
This evening Dee and I watched the second episode of the latest series of Death In Paradise. I don’t know if you watched them when they were on over there but we’re quite enjoying them, even with the departure of Ben Miller, which I thought was done pretty well. If you missed them you should see if they’re still on iPlayer.
Tomorrow is party day so I suspect Josh will be a bit on the excited side. Us too, to tell the truth, as it’s a good chance for us to chat to some of the other Mums and Dads from his class. 14 have RSVP’d so I suspect it’ll all be a bit of a blur.
