So much happening at the moment I don’t know where to start! You can tell I’m busy ’cause I have almost 40 unread emails in my PERSONAL email, which is unheard of. I usually read through them as I get them!
It was, of course, Deanne’s birthday at the weekend. We went to the cafe at Point Walter for lunch with all her family, Joshua played for a while before everyone arrived then we ate. The food was lovely, we’ll take you there when you come over.
Dee got lots of lovely things for her birthday, including the “wooly [sic] thing that goes round your neck” that Joshy told her about.
On Sunday we went over to Jackson’s house in the afternoon, had drinks and nibbles and chatted to Jackson and his wife and two of their other friends who were there. Josh played with the four kids (two each couple) who weed there and got to decorate some cookies Rachel had made.
This week has flown past so far. Had an interesting meeting at work today but I’ll tell you about it next time we Skype. Tomorrow I’m starting early as we’re going on a boat ride in Mandurah in the evening.

Back to normal today. I dropped Josh off at school, he ran about with Liam because they were both a bit early. When the buzzer went off we headed inside and Joshua played with some building things, which made a farmyard and sheds. Some of the girls came and sat around him. I’m not sure if it’s good or bad but he seems very popular with the (little) ladies. This morning Ella asked if she could sit next to him, then when the twins arrived Summer came up to tell us that it was her birthday in nine days time, which was nice.
I came home and started downloading the papers for Rich’s project again, I also called a couple of people about a couple of jobs.
I got back to school a little before three and met one of the other school council members, she runs the uniform shop and I said I’d take a look at the spreadsheet with the sales data on to see if I could come up with some yearly trends. Haven’t fired up the pen drive yet but it should be an interesting task. Joshua also got an invite to the twins party next Wednesday, which made the episode in the morning make more sense.
When we got home I offered a trip to the park, Joshy decided he wanted to walk, rather than ride his bike, to the “medium” playground, which is about two kilometres away! He did actually walk all the way there and back, although there was a bit of moaning about tired legs as we were nearing home. However he did make me stop at the exercise machines on the way back so he could get on the stepper thing. While he was on it and pushing the pedals and handles up and down it made a squeaking noise, Joshua listened to it then said “It still needs a bit more petrol!!!” I assume what he meant was oil but he said it so sincerely that it made me laugh. That’s what the picture is of anyway.
Deanne was home and making dinner by the time we got back. Lasagne, very tasty. After putting Joshy to bed Deanne has been trying to check the iiNet bills, as they seem to have made some sort of mistake for our charges, but we’re not sure exactly where the problem is, and if it’s in our favour or not. I Skyped Rich and wished him a happy birthday, we had a bit of a chat about nothing much and now it’s bedtime so I better get myself sorted and have a sleep.
I might run in the morning as Julie is dropping the boy off at kindy, apart from that back to the grind.
Joshua woke up to go to the toilet at about six, but after I turned the tap on to wash his hands (it’s too stiff for him) he went back to bed and we all got up at about seven.
After having breakfast we got down to the important business of opening his presents. He started off slowly, then got a bit more excited after each present. I couldn’t believe how generous all his classmates had been at the weekend, and of course all the ones from Mummy and Daddy, Nana and Poppy Richard and of course Grandma and Grandad. The thing he was most excited about was a fish bowl with a little toy fish that swims round in a random manner. He spent a good hour or two over the course of the day playing with them. But as always he’ll play with all of them once he’s calmed down a bit.
We went to Freo to test drive a little car we’re going to buy, we picked Big Nana up on the way back and then it was party time. The family turned up in drubs and drabs until everyone was here. Of course this meAnt Joshy got even more presents and cards and so will be starting his own toy shop soon.
While I was making drinks for everyone Josh came in and said he was tired and that he wanted me to run his bath, however it turned out that this was just so he could play with his fish while he was bathing. I ran his bath and he played, then Deanne read his new Harry and the Dinosaurs book and he went to sleep.
I’ve included the only picture I took on my phone which is of him playing with a magnetic fishing rod. Shortly afterwards he said that when Grandma and Grandad visit it means he can go fishing with Grandad.
It was Julie’s birthday today, we didn’t do too much in the morning but lunch was booked at a restaurant at about midday on the beach in Rockingham, more or less, so we went down there and met up with Olive,Janice and Kody. There were quite few veggie options, I had a risotto, Deanne had a burger and Joshua went for pizza.
After we had eaten everyone left apart from us, we got Joshua changed and went down onto the beach to play. We must have been there an hour or so but it seemed like much longer in the heat of the day. However Joshua had a whale of a time and even went (a bit too far for our liking) into the water, pretty much over his shoulders! He also did the obligatory digging up the sand and burying his feet and mine.
After we packed up we went for a drive in to Fremantle so we could show Joshua the type of ship our container would have come in on, as he’s been asking about it a bit
Once we had done that we came home and Joshua watched a bit of TV while I made him some baked beans and toast, which he ate, then a yoghurt, then a pear. I was amazed he ate so much after eating half of a thick crust pizza and chips for lunch, and an ice lolly after he got home again from the beach.
Anyway, it was a busy day and we all had fun, but should probably have taken more to drink with us as Deanne and I were definitely a bit dehydrated when we got back, and I think Joshy might have been too as he was a bit on the grumpy side when I made his tea.
Tomorrow we’re doing a bunch of house viewings and then going to watch the fireworks at Point Walter in the evening.
